Rick Wakeman

Saturday 18 Sept, 7.30pm
A rare evening in the company of Rick Wakeman, his piano and a bunch of ridiculous anecdotes. Musician, storyteller and stalwart of BBC TV’s Grumpy Old Men, Rick’s membership of the huge 1970’s Prog Rock band Yes elevated him to the status of rock royalty. He’s here to play a few old favourites and share a few stories in his one man show. After the huge success of his recent concerts at Hampton Court Palace with The Six Wives of Henry VIII, we’re honoured that Rick is visiting Durham.

The College Years

Sunday 19 Sept, 8.00pm
Following their smash-hit debut show School of Pop, F&M are back with more pop-culture-parody. A musical comedy duo so deliriously entertaining, they drew breathless praise at last year's Edinburgh Fringe. Every great high-school show needs a kick-ass college sequel, and this year, the dynamite duo throw down the intellectual gauntlet with The College Years. A thesis in pop collision theory, focussing on the great pairings from Brandy and Monica to Freddie Mercury and what’s-her-face operabitch. The pair sing their way through hilarious musical parodies which have them marked down as the talents to watch.

The Boy With Tape On His Face

Thursday 23 Sept, 7.30pm
Basically, a fella with gaffer tape over his mouth doesn’t bode well for an evening of comedy. But this exciting one-man show from New Zealand is attracting attention across the globe. Strikingly original and an absolute delight to watch, this is one of the most innovative and downright hilarious shows for years. There’s no ‘walking into the wind’ or ‘stuck in a glass box’ here, but somehow, Sam Wills manages to get loads of laughs from his comic skill alone. Unique!
